Sarika Lakraj-Naidoo: Dismissed from the City of Johannesburg for blowing the lid on alleged R8.2 billion corruption - Why?
Was it because she was "Indian" or was it because she had the same chutzpah and unflinching courage as the late Babita Deokaran?
Sarika Lakraj- Naidoo, the former finance director at the Department of Public Safety in the City of Johannesburg has been dismissed from her position after she blew the whistle on several irregularities and possible corruption involving over R8.2 billion.
The fiesty, and brave Lakraj-Naidoo, like the heroic Babita Deokaran, whose was life was untimely shortened by the thugs that infest our bureaucracy (the masterminds of her brutal murder are yet to be brought to book and one can only guess why), had made protected disclosures that related to questionable contracts, irregular employment practices and the gross misuse of resources.
She had done her patriotic duty in the interest of all law-abiding South Africans by opening cases with the Group Forensics and Investigation Service (GFIS), the Hawks and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), providing evidence in support of her allegations.
Yet another supee brave "Indian" woman taking on the malfeasance of the defalcators in our governmental system whose only intention is to milk the public coffers at the expense of the citizens, thereby depriving all of us of much needed service delivery.
She was charged with eight counts of misconduct including gross misconduct, dishonesty, harassment, intimidation and bullying - after working in the civil service for three decades.
She was threatened, followed and intimidated for doing the right thing.
Every South African - without exception - must stand up in support of Ms.Sarika Lakraj-Naidoo and never allow the heisters of the public purse to deprive hard-working taxpayers of their monies meant for the well-being of the country.
Ms. Sarika Lakraj-Naidoo - you go girl!
